MILITARY PPM FAQ's

PPM rates change annually and are based off the 400NG tariff.

The amount reimbursed is the amount based on your actual weight, distance and market lane.

The incentive payment for PPM's is considered income and is taxable.

When it is paid out to you, whatever $$ you have left over and was not used on your move will be taxed by 25%, so prepare for that.

Your approved operating costs (AOC)  (i.e. -packing material, truck rental, labor, moving company, etc) can lower the taxable amount of the incentive payment, get with the finance office to discuss this breakdown more in depth.

You can claim expenses for your move on taxes. Anything that is not paid/reimbursed can be claimed on your taxes for that year.

If you use your weight allowance to get your estimate and you move less, you will be paid less.

You must set up your move online using the (DPS) system, and elect for a PPM, and have Hard Orders Issued before formally booking a move.

Storage (SIT) is billed, and handled separate, meaning you will need two invoices- This is how the finance office handles it. It is an entitlement allowed up to 90 Days.

You can put your GTC into what is known as a "PCS Status" and have the limit increased to cover the cost of your move. If you are Navy, the newly issued NAVADMIN restricts this for PPM's but allows for a cash advance on your move to combat this restriction.

You are entitled up to 90 Days SIT, but need to get this pre-authorized by your TO, if possible, however we understand that life happens, and have worked with families who needed emergency SIT, and worked to ensure that entitlement was properly issued.

We are designed for full service interstate moves, but do offer other services on demand depending on the lane and can assist with local moves in most instances, as our growing network is spread nationwide.
